Dear Elaine and whomever will read this,

Greetings from Akiba. We, as you know are in Goree (missing the other pilgrims terribly) but also organizing so we will have a stay place when they come. We have met some very incredible people. One who has become our brother and wants to walk with us to St. Louis, Attou, has been so gracious as to guide us all over the place without many expectations.

It is quite challenging for me to be here in Goree (which means Free) because there is much to say for the freedom here - especially in respect to the dollar. However the Creator and the Ancestors continue to open doors and guide us and for this I am gratefull. So our time here has been quite valuable.

We are planning for the pilgrims stay on Goree Island but we are still not clear as to whether or not it will work. As many institutions which are private in the US are government controlled in Africa, therefore you must get clearance for many things we take for granted. But our good fortune may help us to get the clearance we need. Each step prepares for the next - a concept that is becoming clearer and clearer.

People her are suggesting we go to Casamance, southern Senegal - they say the people have different values from those here in Goree. The cousin of Marie Jo, a woman in the military, is suggesting we go on to Guinea-Bussau, so you see everything is changing. Bye for now - love to all the pilgrims.
